Environmental
It has been long established that detergents, degreasers, stain removers and other cleaning chemicals endanger the environmentally by contaminating our ground water, rivers, lakes and oceans. If these hazardous products in the home are ingested, absorbed through the skin or inhaled they can cause illness that may only appear years later. Some of the most common household cleaning chemicals are actually harmful chemicals.

Apart from other hazards, high phosphate levels, commonly found in detergents, can kill marine life in our rivers, lakes and oceans by contributing to the so called “Algal Blooms”. These dense algae growth have the potential of suffocating marine life. Phosphates serve as nutrients to some algae forms and result in their rapid growth. Swan River has been struggling with these algal blooms for many years. To find out more about algal blooms please click here.
Why use chemicals for cleaning
Today’s modern householders require different and faster cleaning solutions due in part to modern building materials, synthetic surfaces, and artificial materials that require different cleaning methods. Everything around us has become complex and needs complex material to clean.
Several natural cleaning agents have been used for centuries:
- lemons
- beeswax
- honey
- camphor
- turmeric
- lavender
- tea tree oil
- vanilla essence
But these do not match with modern day material & lifestyle.
What are Bio-degradable cleaning agents
Biodegradable means “degraded by natural bacteria”. These non-dangerous bacteria live in the earth, the sea, in sewerage treatment plants and in septic tanks.
A compound with detergent qualities and that disintegrates up on exposure to natural conditions and converted into simpler parts which are more environmentally acceptable than when they are one.
Why use biodegradable products
- They strike a balance between cleaning chemicals and natural products.
- They are efficient cleaners to match current lifestyle.
- They are not harmful or less harmful to environment and human health.
